Designing Sound for Theatrical Productions
As well as performing and teaching, I have frequently enjoyed both designing and operating the sound for theatrical productions.
Some of my most notable productions include:
Medea (Mike Bartlett Adaptation)
It’s a Wonderful Life (Film Adaptation)
Lord of the Flies (Nigel Williams)
The Wonderful World of Dissocia (Anthony Neilson)
Curtain Up (Peter Quilter)
I have created the soundworlds for professional theatre companies, multiple school-based examinations, from year 7 through to A Level exams, amateur dramatic shows, student shows I have both written and performed in at university and showcases for theatre academies and classes of all ages. I have worked on productions of all genres, from Shakespearean tragedies to modern day comedies, for companies with five members up to 200+ in the cast.
I love to experiment with creating my own atmospheric soundscapes through everything from vocal layering and effects to sampling and distorting pre-made sounds. I always like to attend a dress rehearsal to see the sounds in action well before the run begins, enabling me to make any necessary changes to the sound design well ahead of the show. Being able to operate the sound during the actual production gives my service the added benefit of providing a complete service from initial conception of sound design, sound creation and sound implementation.
If your theatre company, school or academy has an upcoming show that needs sound design, please get in touch to discuss what I can create for you.
