Opera Singing Lessons
develop your singing ability
I am a professional singer with 16 years experience performing in a variety of disciplines including solo singing, ensemble a cappella, musicals, theatre and opera from the age of 9. I am able to teach students from total beginners to advanced performers, moving at a pace appropriate for you and your goals.
My exposure to the music industry from a young age, and subsequent performance experience, has enabled me to offer high quality, results-based singing lessons aimed at nurturing an individual or group to achieve their goals.
I specialise in operatic vocal training, but also have experience in performing and coaching jazz, folk, musical theatre, classical-crossover and popular genres. I offer lessons to those looking to improve and enjoy using their voice, whether it be in preparation for a performance or exam, or just wanting to develop their ability.
My singing lessons are delivered from my fully equipped private studio in Thame, Oxfordshire, which is easily accessible by car (free parking), bus, or a short walk from Thame High Street.
Whatever stage you are at, be it an absolute beginner, an amateur or a professional performer, get in touch to see how I can help you improve.
My Singing Experience
During my undergraduate BMus (Hons) Music degree at King's College London, I studied operatic singing at the Royal Academy of Music. Having subsequently completed a Masters degree in Text and Performance from RADA & Birkbeck College in 2017, I have developed a well-rounded knowledge of performance and vocal technique.
I have obtained a wealth of knowledge on the anatomy of the voice, through continued study and through my membership of organisations such as the Incorporated Society of Musicians and the Association of Teachers of Singing, and how to nurture it in its infantile stages to ensure that the voice remains healthy to develop successfully.
What Happens in an Opera Singing Lesson?
Whether you are totally new to opera singing, or an experienced performer, all lessons will include a thorough warm-up which teaches you the principals of correct vocal placement, breathing technique and posture to ensure that your building blocks for vocal development are right from the start. I endeavour to always clearly explain operatic technique in very concise terms, allowing you to best understand how your voice is developing.
Technique work will then be applied to your chosen songs and/or arias. I am able to advise you on suitable repertoire for your age, ability and style preferences, ensuring that you are really enjoying the pieces that we are working on.
I offer three different durations for your singing lesson. I am also able to offer bespoke packages and durations to suit your diary and budget. Please contact me for more information.
Who Do You Teach?
I teach students of any age and ability. I believe you are never too young or too old to learn how to sing!

I teach both adults and children, either on a one-to-one basis or in small group lessons.
One-to-one lessons offer a more personal and concentrated focus on your voice and vocal development, and are the most popular lesson option for those looking to progress their vocal ability quickly with thorough, in-depth coaching.
Small group lessons can be beneficial for those who may find the prospect of a one-to-one lesson daunting to begin with, who may wish to progress to one-to-one lessons in the future. Small group lessons also provide us with the opportunity to work on harmony skills, song arranging and are particularly effective for musical theatre work and those looking to work towards Duo or Group LAMDA exams.
Students interested in Singing Examinations
I have a 100% pass rate of taking students through both ABRSM and Trinity exam syllabi from initial grades through Grade 8.
Having received a high Distinction mark in my ABRSM Grade 8 Singing exam prior to attending university, I am confident in my ability to ensure that students receive the highest level of support and training through their exam preparation and enter at a time where they are confident in their ability to pass with the highest marks possible.
