Charity Cabaret Night at The Bell, Long Hanborough, Oxford in aid of The Haematology Unit at The John Radcliffe Hospital
Last night Zoe proved that classically trained singers can sing the Blues!!
Due to illness Zoe was left with the dilemma of finding musicians to play for her just 24 hours prior to the event. Professional pianist Colin Henney and saxophonist Mark Mullins came to the rescue and with just 1 hour's rehearsal prior to gig the famous 3 came up with 6 blues and jazz songs!!!
With huge thanks to Colin and Mark who played magnificently and gave Zoe the confidence to sing in a genre alien to her she gave the most beautiful performance to the sell out audience who have come to know Zoe only as the young opera singer to hit the high notes!
Arousing applause after her first song, a blues version of Summertime, she continued to deliver a faultless performance of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Imagine, Wonderful World, Home and finish with a show stopping jazz version of Feeling Good which left the packed venue cheering for more!!
Zoe was asked by the organiser, Geoff Simpson to finish off the evening with Nessun Dorma, a firm favourite of her Oxfordshire fans who gave her a standing ovation!
Zoe enjoyed the evening so much, she is planning to sing the Blues again in the very near future, as long as she can book Colin and Mark!!
The evening was a huge success raising £750 for a very worth while cause!
